2007 Benefit Concert

On March 13, over two hundred supporters and friends of Bread & Roses gathered in Teatro ZinZanni's antique spiegeltent for an extraordinary evening of live entertainment featuring Huey Lewis as Billy Flynn from the Broadway hit "Chicago."

Longtime Bread & Roses supporter Michael Pritchard opened the show by sharing stories of his own voluneteer work with our isolated audiences and the transformative power of live art to heal wounded hearts.

In true Teatro ZinZanni style, the evening was packed with exciting performances, fabulous food and comedy. Emcee Christine Deaver, Teatro ZinZanni's first female "Chef", delighted the crowd with her audacious interactions with audience members, among them, former Bread & Roses board chairs David Stollmeyer and Mark Nelson.

The goal is to educate the public about the value of live music and performing arts for isolated audiences of all ages. Bread & Roses provides over 500 shows a year to people isolated in institutions in eight counties around the Bay Area.

Help Us Meet the Challenge!

I have great news! And an urgent request for your help.

Last year, Bread & Roses brought hope and healing to 27,000 isolated children and adults by presenting 613 uplifting performances, more than ever before in the organization’s storied 35-year history.  What an amazing accomplishment, during a year of major economic challenges.

We reached this milestone thanks to volunteers and staff who worked day and night, seven days a week, and donors, like you, who understand that Bread & Roses depends on us, year in and year out, to set the stage for the healing power of live music.

Last year at this time, I asked you to support Bread & Roses and offered to match your gift, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000.

Because you have responded so generously in the past, I am stepping forward again with the same urgent request:  Please give generously to Bread & Roses, right now, at this critically important time of year, and I will match your gift, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000. Click here and double your impact.
