Adjacent to Château Lafite-Rothschild in the neighboring appellation of Paulliac, Cos d'Estournel produces wines that are prized worldwide. Robert Parker rated this 1996 Chateau Cos d'Estournel at 93 points, and wrote, "A fabulous Cos d'Estournel, the 1996 is the finest wine produced at this estate since the sumptuous 1990...it is a huge, backward wine....the 1996 possesses an opaque purple color, as well as pure aromatics consisting of cassis, grilled herbs, coffee…it is a fabulous Cos.....a knock-out nose of Asian spices, licorice, tobacco-tinged cassis fruit, and plum-like jam. This full-bodied, extraordinarily pure wine will enjoy an immensely impressive future...anticipated maturity 2006-2030....this wine will keep for decades,” although it is also absolutely ready to be enjoyed today. The Wine Spectator rated it a 95 and wrote, “Dark-colored, with plenty of currant and spice aromas, the wine is full-bodied, with very velvety tannins and allspice, berry and currant flavors. Long, long finish. It's a beauty.”

This case wine is being donated by its original owners who have meticulously cellared it in the original wooden box from France. This pristine case is valued at $2,640.
