Executive Director’s Message

Welcome to the Bread & Roses website. Here you will get a glimpse of the healing power of music that touches thousands of people isolated in San Francisco Bay Area institutions—all  because of the performances that Bread & Roses presents every day.

While the mission is the same today as it has been from the beginning, we now present over 575-600 shows annually and serve over 27,000 audience members.  We want to give comfort to even more people who are isolated from society in various types of facilities – hospitals, drug & alcohol rehab, special needs schools, homeless shelters, detention facilities, and more. We depend on donors, volunteers, board, and staff to continue their support for Bread & Roses and for new supporters to join us.

With your help we can bring hope, healing and joy to our neighbors most in need. On this website there are photos and videos about our work and more about the history of Bread & Roses. You will also find links to a sample calendar of our Daily Shows and Benefit Performers who have helped us raise money over the years.

You can read our current newsletter  online and peruse recently published information about our activities. We cherish our performers, our show hosts, and our donors. They make it possible for the board and staff to guide the work of the organization.

For donors, Bread & Roses is an excellent charitable investment because we are effective and efficient and because of the opportunity to leverage your dollars with the volunteer hours donated by our performers. Every dollar donated allows us to deliver $3 worth of services.

For performers and hosts, Bread & Roses provides an opportunity to witness human joy and to experience the satisfaction of having touched the hearts of people who need it most in the communities where you live. We welcome your interest and participation in the mission of Bread & Roses. You will find information about making a donation and becoming a volunteer on this site.   Please help.

Sincerely,

Cassandra Flipper

Executive Director
