The second annual Bread & Roses "May Around the Bay" features a wide variety of concerts presented at public venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. These events offer an exciting opportunity to learn more about the healing power of our work while enjoying wonderful concerts presented by friends and volunteers of Bread & Roses.

Blame Sally is four accomplished instrumentalists/ singers with strikingly different approaches that together create a distinct and beautiful sound that’s emotionally charged, highly melodic and compelling. The superb guitar-based trio Incendio opens, a band at the Southern California vanguard of the nuevo flamenco movement whose name means “fire” in Italian. Blame Sally is performing a special April show for Bread & Roses at Delancey Street and Incendio gave a wonderful show for the residents of Laguna Honda during their last tour in the Bay Area.

Saturday, May 3 - "The Bubble Lady" (Rebecca Niles) in a special family program "Adventures in Bubbleland" at the Bay Area Discovery Museum at East Fort Baker in Sausalito at 11 am and 12:30 pm
Tickets: Admission to the museum is free for members. Non-members museum admission is: Adults $10; Children $8; Seniors (62+) $8; under 1 year free.
Bubble Lady Theater Show: $8 general admission; $6 BADM members.

The Bubble Lady is fast becoming an all-time favorite at Bread & Roses children's shows with her truly astounding variety of bubble creations. She has played over the last six months at a wide range of facilities serving children around the Bay Area including the Canal Alliance in San Rafael, Edgewood Center in San Francisco and Children's Hospital in Oakland.

New York City-based Marco Benevento is a young keyboardist whose jazz-rooted work includes indie rock, jam band and other influences. His shows range from traditional small-combo jazz to post-rock/experimental soundscapes.

Shana comes from a well-known musical family and is the daughter of Van Morrison. She describes her own music as "a mixture of a lot of different things, including blues, country and Celtic." She is a veteran Bread & Roses volunteer having performed with guitarist Roy Rogers at a benefit concert at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco, and at an institutional show at Sunny Hills, a special needs school in San Anselmo.

Sunday, May 11 - The Decker Family Band will present a special concert for families in honor of Mother's Day, May 11 4:40-6 pm at La Pena Cultural Center in Berkeley.

Eleanor (mom) leads children's music classes in Sonoma and has released three children's music CD's; Eve (daughter) taught elementary school music in the East Bay for over 20 years and performs with acclaimed folk trio Rebecca's Riots; Ben (son) plays guitar, bass, mandolin and writes music for Leap Frog Toys. Eve has done many shows for Bread & Roses performing in settings as varied as a shelter for women and home for abused children.

Kenny Loggins songs from the 70's include "House at Pooh Corner,""Danny's Song" and "Your Momma Don't Dance," in the duo Loggins & Messina. The two-time Grammy winner makes his Marin Center debut at this show, which leads up to his latest 2007 release "How About Now." Loggins has generated hits spanning three decades with more than a dozen albums exceeding platinum status.

ZADELL is the musical confluence of two remarkably talented San Francisco Bay Area musicians (who just happen to be brother & sister): R&B vocalist Zoë Ellis and jazz saxophonist Dave Ellis. The Cedrick Dennis Band will back Zadell on the cruise. Cedrick is one of the most "in demand" guitarists in the Bay Area and his band is smokin' hot!

"The Acoustic Vortex" evening is a unique gathering of eight different acoustic artists/musicians that have been an integral part of the Larkspur-based Acoustic Vortex House Concert series since its inception two yars ago. The musicians are: Doug Adamz, Stevie Coyle, Marian Hubler, Rory McNamara, Tom Neylan, David Siegler, Bruce Victor and Corinne West. Most performers in this evening's concert are also Bread & Roses volunteers.
